Kartik Month Rules: Quick Answer
Kartik is considered the holiest month of the Hindu year, dear to Lord Vishnu. In the North Indian purnimanta calendar, Kartik 2026 runs from about 26 October to Kartik Purnima on 24 November (in the amanta calendar used in Gujarat, Maharashtra and the South, from 10 November to 8 December). Do: wake early and take the Kartik snan before sunrise, light lamps (deep daan) daily, worship and light a lamp before Tulsi, read the Gita or Vishnu Sahasranama, eat sattvic food, give charity and practise self-restraint. Avoid: meat, alcohol, onion-garlic (in strict observance), urad and certain lentils as per tradition, sleeping late, quarrels and harsh words, and cutting nails/hair during a strict vow.

Why Kartik Is So Holy
The Skanda Purana says no month equals Kartik. Vishnu awakens, Lakshmi is worshipped on Diwali, Krishna lifted Govardhan and Shiva destroyed Tripura in this month. Vaishnavas call it Damodar maas.
A Sample Daily Routine
Brahma muhurat: wake, bathe, offer arghya to the Sun. Morning: water to Tulsi, Vishnu puja, Gita path. Day: work, sattvic food, one act of service. Evening: deep daan. Night: bhajan, early sleep.
Kartik and Health
Kartik is the junction between monsoon and winter. Early rising, light sattvic food and seasonal fruits like amla, guava and water chestnut prepare the body for winter.
Summary
