Hanuman Jayanti 2027: Quick Answer
Hanuman Jayanti 2027 falls on Tuesday, 20 April 2027, on Chaitra Purnima. The Story of Hanuman's Birth
Anjana, wife of the vanara king Kesari, prayed to Lord Shiva for a son. In one telling, Vayu, the wind god, carried a portion of the sacred kheer from King Dasharatha's putreshti yagya to her — so Hanuman is called Pavanputra and Anjaniputra. As a child he leapt to swallow the rising Sun, mistaking it for a fruit; Indra's vajra struck his jaw (hanu), giving him the name Hanuman, and the gods then blessed him with strength and immortality.
Rules for Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa
Bathe and wear clean clothes, remember Lord Rama first, sit on a red asana with a ghee or jasmine-oil lamp, and don't get up or talk mid-recitation. On Hanuman Jayanti, 7, 11, 21 or 108 recitations are traditional — but even one recited with devotion is enough. Share gud-chana prasad afterwards.
