This year's note
Karva Chauth is Kartik Krishna Chaturthi — 29 October 2026. Married women fast from sunrise until moonrise for their husband's long life. The fast is pan-North-Indian; in Rajasthan it is widely kept in Jaipur, Shekhawati, and Hadoti towns as well as Marwar households.
The fast is broken only after moonrise sighting, which can differ by tens of minutes between the desert and the Hadoti plateau. Do not use a Delhi moonrise for Jaisalmer.
Your city panchang for 29 October lists sunrise (fast start), moonrise (breaking the fast), and rahu kalam if you have an evening puja before the moon.
When to break the fast
The fast starts at sunrise and breaks at moonrise sighting. Desert and Hadoti moonrise can differ by many minutes. Do not use a Delhi clock in Jaisalmer.
