This year's note
Holi, the festival of colours, is played on Phalguna Purnima's following morning — 4 March 2026 in most North Indian calendars. Holika Dahan is the previous evening (3 March). Rajasthan adds its own grain: Lathmar-style play in some towns, gur-thandai, and temple colours at Nathdwara after the Mewar calendar.
The purnima-to-pratipada shift means the bonfire night and the colour morning are two panchang days. Travellers should not collapse them into one date.
Read your city panchang for 3 March (dahan) and 4 March (colour play) for tithi end, rahu kalam, and a calmer window if you have a family puja before the street play starts.
Holi and Holika Dahan
The bonfire is Purnima evening; colour play is the next morning (Pratipada). Do not collapse them into one date. Rajasthan adds gur-thandai and temple colours at Nathdwara.
Puja and caution
A short Holika puja before the fire. If you have a household puja before street play, check Rahu kalam and tithi end. Health and eyes come before the panchang.
